Inquest Pre Employment Screening conducts the highest quality employee background checks available in India. Unfortunately, there is no public access to court records in India. However, it is possible to conduct employee background checks at the local District Police Office serving the applicant’s place of residence. A release authorization signed by the applicant is required. These employee background checks only provide information for the specific jurisdiction covered by the given Police Office.

There isn’t any centralized public access to police records, so a comprehensive nationwide search is not possible. There are no Felony or Misdemeanor courts in India like the US. Instead, India has Police Departments of various states and metros. Each State has its own system of functioning. Moreover, two police officers of the same State may have different views. There are no computerized databases to be searched. We have to identify the concerned and correct Police Station of the area of residence. If a person has resided at different addresses in the same city, we will have to request separate searches as per concerned Police Station identified by given addresses. Police Stations are not equipped with Fax machines, thus it takes time to get a reply from a Police Station.

Note: Beware of any agency who claims to have conducted a search at any District Court or High Court for criminal record. There are no searchable records available at any district court of any state in India. Moreover any High Court in India is supposed to undertake APPELLATE jurisdiction only as far as criminal cases are concerned.
